Heidelberg and the BMW

On 17 February 2010 we went to Heidelberg for the stake youth council with the stake presidency and the presidency of the Heidelberg and Darmstadt centers. We have a new student council president and he was not able to go so we invited Alexandra Kutchke and Bea Knab. Our high council representative is Brother Weitzel and he is just be called also. He told us he would drive to Heidelberg and to meet at his home. Beirat was to begin at 8:00 and we met at his home at 7:00pm. We all got in his car—a black BMW SUV. It was very comfortable to sit in. We headed for the autobahn. We left Darmstadt for the 50 minute drive to Heidelberg. We arrived 15 minutes early. Elder Hadley sat in the front seat and noticed the speedometer. We were going 232 k per mile which is 144 miles per hour. The car is well built and you did not feel the speed except when he touched the brake as someone started to pull out into the lane in front of him. We had an excellent Beirat and left the Heidelberg church at 9:15 pm and we were in Darmstadt 25 minutes later. Brother Weitzel was an excellent although fast driver. We were glad to be home and safe.
On Sunday Elder Hadley said to him in greeting “How are you hot rod?” and he laughed.

Sunday night we went to the Weitzel home for a student council meeting and dinner and to plan and orient each other as to responsibilities. It was a good meeting and the pizza and quiche were also great. The JAE are great young people and have testimonies of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We took Florien Rosel home following the meeting because the public transportation is not good on Sunday evenings. He lives about 10 miles from our apartment. He is the new president and is studying mechanical engineering here In Darmstadt. He returned from his mission to Russia in October. His home is in Wurzburg and he is here studying. He will be good student president for the JAE.
